Jamie had just completed the divination spells in his lab. There was blood on his clothes. Her blood. He would always have to live with that and so many other things.
He was a fool. If he would have just killed Raven in the first place none of this would have ever happened. Or if he had just tossed that axe down a deep dark hole. Now his own foolishness had doomed the loved ones of several friends and potentially his children.
He went to the draw where he kept the document. A document that outlined what was to happen after he was gone. It was a bit dated now and needed to be revised. Quickly.
He burned the old version of his will and quickly wrote a new one to deal with these circumstances.
Conor was named the executor of the will as some of what Jamie was writing might not be entirely legal, but Lord Dallas would have the money to front lawyers to make his wishes a reality. Lord Dallas. He had never gotten the full story on that and might not ever get a chance.
He was a bad friend, leading the Goblin Whore to his friends and not taking an interest in their lives. He could blame the While Council for this, but it was still his fault for becoming a Warden.
The children were to go to Matthew. He was the best man that Jamie knew and would make them less of a target than giving them over to the White Council. The White God was not his favorite entity, but far better than other alternatives. The money that would be made on the sale the house and other accounts were to be put into a trust fund overseen by Conor.
His original books were given to the White Council, but he gave text he had acquired later and his notes to those who he thought they might help. Some to Matthew, others to Erica (yes, she could not see, but could have them translated) and some others to people like Ramirez.
This document was important because he did not think he was going to make it. How could he? The Goblin Whore was nearly immortal and he would be one of her main targets. It was better that way so the others could survive. Even if he did live, the spells he would have to conjure would leave him so near death there might as well have not been a difference. Or perhaps he would be cursed to live and actually clean up the mess he had made in the lives of others and his own.
The last point on his will was two words. “Kill Raven”. If he lived through this it would be the next thing he would do. Kill Raven. Not her boss, not her underlings, just her. It was unfair to leave this task to his friends, one he had not been able to do himself, but it Jake was to be safe it needed to be done.
With the will finished Jamie pulled an old greek text that he read through and memorized. A prayer to the god Zeus that he never wanted to have to use, but like many things you did what you had to.
