So the giant blood spirit hunter decides to take the form of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Then things really get interesting.
Conor plays Rodeo Clown (finding his fists ineffective) by jumping up on the beasts back and trying to get in the way of it being able to attack his mates (mostly by pulling on eyelids)…
… Ren adds magical ice to make the battlefield a winter wonderland (or maybe a Slip and Slide playset?)
…pulls out a whole bag of “Ssssh!” with the creature’s name on it (which prevents some kind of scary roar that it was probably trying to do… which becomes really comical when nobody can hear it).
… but Erica (with a brain-wrenching use of the Sight) and Matthew (a Student of the Supernatural) are the ones that discover the critter’s weakness. An aversion to trinkets drenched in the blood of battle (Jamie‘s Goblin axe, a blood trophy), magic born of blood (Matthew’s now Soulfire-infused magic – representing of the blood of Christ, a blood price) and an ancient animosity between tribes (Elena‘s patron, a blood enemy). They go to town on the blood-spirit-giant-oh-my-gawd-it’s-a-T-Rex with Holy magic, flashing axe strikes, and Elena’s cougar-form fangs and claws.
When it’s all over except for the cleaning up of dried blood (a blood spirit in the form of a T-Rex has a lot by the way… in case you were curious)… The scene, in that aggravatingly chronomantic fashion, reverts back to where it all began, in the Diner. Everything is as it was, except with no Red Court Warrior, Jamie holding the Amulet, and the memories of what had happened. Matthew’s Venatori contact shows up with a mysterious message of an important Red Court Artifact being trafficked thru Dallas (Matthew: “Already took care out it. It’ll be in my report.”) Elena re-intimidates the White Court Vampire and she turns tail. The big guy/Ogre is pleased with the evening’s entertainment and tells the group that if they ever come “Summer-side Way” to look up TroubleHammer. Jamie returns the ancient Red Court artifact to Edinburgh and then everyone sets out to find and remove their problem child… Rafa.
Conor reminds them of The Witch of White Rock Lake‘s warning… so they cook up a powerful curse (ok Jamie cooks it up, the rest help) of the Chupacabra (Conor’s name for it). Rafa will be cursed to only be able to swallow Goat Blood.
With Stacy the Waitress on lookout (she owes them and can already ID Rafa), they lay a trap for him, kidnap him (in hilariously ironic “mexican kidnapping” fashion: they knock him out, wrap him in a carpet laced with a little holy water, and throw him in a vehicle) on route from The Lodge to a vacant lot in Oak Cliff and set out to cast the curse after an interrogation. They discover that he has been selling cocaine to Hell T for some blood with a particularly horrific origin. But it’s Rafa’s drug of choice and a means to keep him from eating any of the employees or patrons of his Host’s establishment.
… and the heroes probably made really big enemies with the White Court now. Dun Dun Duuunnn!
- Game date 6/28 GM- Stagelucas
- Well since we’re probably as a party at war with the White Court (a degrade in Campaign state) and the Red Court is basically done for … Major Milestone.
- (Stagelucas: We again ran out of time, so instead of having a “Part 3”, we just storybooked the fight with the Twins. There is no doubt in my mind that the Twins would have suffered a loss considering the PC’s took out my T-Rex, but it would not have been a short fight in terms of OOG time.)
