…this is all nice but… what are "The Dresden Files" you ask?
Extra Special Thanks to HumAnnoyd for the amazing work he did with the art for this site, you take it to 11 sir!.
Fellow fanatics and friends of friends have made a Fan Film!
They too are Dallas dwellers that delight in the detective named Dresden.
(sorry, couldn’t resist).

Dresden Files Dallas Comments
Love the site. The arrangement of your main Wiki page, especially, inspired to do a drastic overhaul for my own site. I particularly appreciate your CSS notes and how you pointed me in the right direction for GIMP use (I am such a hack in that regard). And that’s just the superficial stuff! I wish I could get my players to get as involved with the game and doing adventure feedback like yours! Beautiful, beautiful site.
Love the Reforged site- not quite as good as the old, but really awesome still! Hope you come off your hiatus soon!
Thanks! I’m just a hack when it comes to this layered art stuff compared to you, but it’s a start.
I really like the new red felt image. It looks a lot better than the Dallas skyline you were using before. It adds atmosphere and mystery. Nicely done.
The bulk are generic Google image searches on public figures (actors/actresses/models) and a handful are from royalty free image sites (stock photos), a couple that Jaelie does are 3D CGI artwork created with the DAZ Studio software. I believe a couple are from deviantArt.
As a follow up to that question, where do you find all the base images you use prior to applying the filter. How many of them are pictures that you all actually take versus find on the internet or scan from hard copy?
Thank you! Very kind of you.
If you mean the square character portraits, we use the GIMP software and the “Cartoon Effect” filter from Joe1GK
If you mean the red embossed leather, parchment, and woodwork graphics, those were created by the very, very talented one-and-only HummAnnoyd for our game out of the goodness of his heart.
I just found your site this morning and I love it. Already marked as a favorite. As far as the rendered images go, what filters/effects do you use to get that effect. It is very striking and visually appealing.
I truly love the rendering of the images in your Episode Guides. And thanks for your CSS template Auld Lang Syne, which I used as the basis for my newest campaign, Mysteria. Have credited you in Acknowledgements. This whole site is still looking super cool.
Thank you! We always enjoy comments and knowing that we’ve got folks also like our updates. :) Fun times.
Still one of my favorite campaigns here on OP.
Your site is incredible to look at.
Your stories are fantastic.
And I love the characters
I love that EMBOSSED RED LEATHER LOOK!
I have been remiss in checking on your page and after today I want to kick my own ass. The page is looking fraking awesome!!!
Thanks guys. I love all the work Wolfhound and his players put into the game. Wonderful stuff. I am honored to add to such a great effort. Just wish all of you would move to Seattle so I could join your game. :D
…. (jaw drops) I keep up with the site updates pretty well, and… well.. DAMN!
Thanks HumAnnoyd for the awesome art! (And of course wolfhound for making the site slick with all the new CSS stuff – and being an excellent GM)
Thanks y’all! HumAnnoyd is amazing.
Love the new banner and book!! Nice work!!
OK man! Frigging STARS, STONES and HELL’s BELLS! Just when you get it down to being awesome, CSS comes out and your site gets even better. Thanks for the inspiration, instruction, and entertainment. May your games be merry and bright… until they turn dark… lol. Give them hell! (I am just about to run my group through your “Smoker, I didn’t even know her” scenario. Their main hangout is a BBQ place. Should be a blast. Thanks again!
My absolute pleasure. I’ll keep attacking CSS Tutorial 4 as I get free time.
I’ve recently set to work building my own OP site, and your tutorial pages have been immensely helpful. I look forward to reading and learning more about the new CSS features. Your site looks amazing, and thanks again for the time and effort you put in to sharing your expertise with the community.
“Eventually I’ll retcon all the other postgames to be in the same voice. I think it’ll improve overall flow and re-readability later.”
Ok, so no pot kettle black this time- you are seriously insane! Just glad I don’t have to compete for COTY with you… this blows me away!!
Continue your great work! I am a forever fan!
The links off the tribox still don’t have new graphics yet; but as of now the 3 boxes under “tutorials” now link to the old tutorial pages (CSS 1, 2, & 3).
Looking good. And yes, I understand the insanity. I don’t know CSS enough to even try to mess with it, but I like the new look. I hope the tutorials come back soon, I use them a lot… lol (Old man with poor memory). Keep up the great work and thanks for the inspiration.
Oh come on now Killervp, pot… kettle… ;) It’s all about ease of maintenance down the road. I am paying the paintrain now so I can update a single CSS later and do sitewide changes instead of having to edit a billion subpages. I wish.. wish wish wish Obsidian Portal had implemented customized stylesheets a year ago. LOL. Oh well. Only 40 something more adventure postgames to convert…. /sob
You, sir Wolfhound, are insane!! I cannot believe how many changes you are making to an already phenomenal site! Wow!
Thanks! So far the changeover to the new custom CSS-stylesheet backend that they added is going smoothly… it’s just a LOT of stuff to convert. Got 40+ postgames to add back to the Adventure Log…. blarg.
Very nice job on changing the graphics. I really like what you are doing with it all.
Thank you Rajak! What you’ve done with The Fallen Tower is phenomenal. Glad to have helped in any way that I was useful.
Heya! I really appreciate the CSS tutorial and the examples you given, it really helped me out starting up my own campaign. I also really enjoy reading the adventures of your Dresden campaign. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the kind words PhoenixMark! We’re still having a tremendous amount of fun with the FATE system. For a mature group that doesn’t worry too much about “mechanics” it’s nearly perfect! :)
Hey Wolfhound, I just wanted to thank you once again for all your CSS help. Also, I am becoming a Dresden fan, and I am thinking of starting a side campaign using the FATE system, and incorporating most of the world info. It rocks. I would use the Dresden world as is, but I have not read any of the novels (yet). Still, great stuff in the rulebooks, and I love the low-key aspect of FATE. I am first a role-player, and lastly a rules guy. Thanks for making this system/world very appealing.
Congrats on hitting the Century club! Awesome as always!
Grats on making 100 fans. Page is still as awesome as ever.
My preference would be comments are out-of-game, and if you want to incorporate them in-game pow-wow together and edit the original writeup (either to include them as part of the scene or use them in a future write up).
so can PC comments be in game and/or out of game?
Ok, ok…. you are never allowed to write so much at once again- finally caught up! Seriously, great work, as always!
Thanks yall. Glad to know it’s entertaining and being read. We enjoy doing it!
Can my campaign site be like yours when it grows up? All kidding aside you have done a wonderful job as usual and every time I come back (about once a week) it looks even better then last. By the way I really like the whole how Dresden impacts the world timeline.
“However, 2012 was the year the environmentalists complained; no Lupensis Subcarnosus flowers bloomed in Texas… anywhere.”
Great line, looks like it was a great session!
Loving the video! So glad you won!!
Outstanding work. Gives me something to aspire to now that I have started using OP.
Richly deserved COTM award. Nice job Wolf and all you players involved.
Wow, thank you very much for the kind words. Speaking for the group, it makes us very happy to know that we were able to entertain/provide a good read for the Obsidian Portal community and to know that our crazy ideas/layout seem to be working so well.
“…throughts?…..” (Um, sorry about that)
Wolfhound, I don’t really know the Dresdenverse but I can attest to the fact that you have put together an excellent campaign here. The layout is sharp and navigation simple. The rendered pictures solidify the thematic aesthetic throughout and there are some terrific ideas here, e.g. webisodes, innovative development of orcs, and your links to general themes.
I am particularly impressed by the Episode Section and I think these are the best “Adventure Logs” I have yet seen on Obsidian Portal. The box and small picture with short blurb grab attention immediately and give good link options to read more. On reading more I find not only an account of the adventure, but also some of your thoughts on intentions. To top that off, the players also contribute their own throughts through the “Webisodes”. Brilliant!
twiggyleaf
KILLER intro (I’ve clearly go to step it up a notch!) and I love the site layout. Definitely likens to a media site for a television show, which is just so fitting. Keep up the good work, and happy gaming!
Félicitation Wolfhound for your CotM ! Your wiki is very stimulant, what a great work on the Obsidian Portal !
What a great campaign site, Wolfhound. Fantastic design, solid player participation, and a compelling read to boot!
This page is looking better every time i come back. All I can say is WOW!! Wish I could make mine look half as good as this.
Thanks :)
Wow, the layout for this campaign is tight, man. Super good job, as always.
Your OP humbles me and makes me jealous. I wish I could design my OP half as well as yours. On a side note I am a huge fan of the Dresden Files but have no one willing to run the the RPG so I will be following your game to see what the RPG is really like.
Thanks Arsheesh, I’m humbled that you rememberd my early efforts with HotN. Glad to have you along for a new one!
Wolfhound, your “Horn of the North” campaigns was one of my original sources of inspiration early one when I first joined the Portal (I read every journal entry!). It’s great to see you back with another amazing campaign. You’ve got a very great layout here that I think nails the style you are going for. I think I’m going to definitely tune in.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Thank you, very kind of you.
looking good, I will be certain to follow the storyline now that the game has finally started.
